Herman and Beverly Jenkins opened Main Street Cafe and Catering on May 6th of 1982 in a small quaint shop in the heart of Jonesborough's Historic District, serving quality fresh food to the surrounding area.

Herman hales from Charlottesville, Virginia with a background in Art. He is a graduate of the University of Tennessee and has lived in the Tri-Cities most of his life.

Beverly hales from Austin, Texas with a background in all things food and a creative eye for detail. Raised mostly in Dallas, Beverly gave extensive parties that no one wanted to miss! Beverly came to spend a summer in Jonesborough in 1975; that's how she met Herman and got to Jonesborough from Dallas!

After their marriage in January of 1981, Beverly & Herman decided to open their own business; it was then March of 1982. "Let's have a kitchen shop", Beverly said, "Let's put a sandwich bar in the kitchen shop", Herman said.

So the idea was born, and 7 months later so was their first child, Breelyn Rachel. Zachary Thomas came almost 6 years later after the café was relocated in its present building on Main Street.

In December of 2009, Breelyn and her husband Alex Bomba moved back to Jonesborough to begin working with Herman and Beverly.

Breelyn's career has led her throughout the hospitality industry including boutique hotels and fine restaurants. Most recently, Breelyn was the director of catering at TPC Potomac, an exclusive Washington DC area country club owned by the PGA Tour. Breelyn has taken over the role of Catering Director for Main Street.

Alex is a classically trained chef who has led kitchens in Louisville, KY and Washington D.C. His most recent appointment was as a chef in Arlington, VA just outside of D.C. at Eventide Restaurant, which received a James Beard nomination as "best new restaurant in the US". In addition to being the Executive Chef, Alex also handles sales and marketing for Main Street.

The old 1930's United States Post Office Building, with its original pressed-tin ceiling, hanging globe lamps, and oak hardwood flooring, is where Main Street Café & Catering offers you either indoor and outdoor seating for an enjoyable relaxing atmosphere full of the charm Jonesborough is known for. They also cater the entire Tri-State area and have a reputation that precedes them!

The Café offers homemade soups, salads, grilled items and an endless variety of sandwiches, to our ever-popular oven baked desserts & fresh ground coffee & locally brewed Beer. Main Street Cafe and Catering is best known for simply serving... GREAT FRESH FOOD!
